I was a dancer growing up – tap, jazz, ballet, and then high school musicals. I also played soccer year-round. With all that activity, I ate whatever I wanted. But as I got older, my eating habits didn’t change, and I found myself indulging in fast food and unhealthy snacks.
A Wake-Up Call
I got married in 2004 in a size 16 wedding dress. A few months later, I wore a size 18 dress to my sister-in-law’s wedding. When I went shopping that December and had to buy an XXL shirt, I realized that I was getting bigger and bigger. That’s when I knew I had to explore weight-loss options.

- Give all kinds of foods a try. I used to hate strawberries when I was younger, but I recently found that now I love them!
- For meat-eaters, try 94-percent fat-free Canadian bacon.
- Don’t lose weight to please others or prove something to someone else; do it for you. That’s the only way it will work.
