Rewind to the year 2000 and Faith Hill‘s “Breathe” was the most popular song on the radio, Survivor topped TV charts, Bill Clinton was president, and the world just experienced the turn of the century, dubbed Y2K. It was a pivotal time in pop culture, and we’ve loved watching A-listers change over the years—unless you’re Reese Witherspoon, who’s basically aging in reverse. Below, we look back at some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities in 2000, and what they’re up to now.

Celebrities Then and Now: 2000 and Present

Reese Witherspoon

Below, the Oscar-winning actress is pictured in 2000 after her Cruel Intentions success of 1999, and Legally Blonde was right around the corner, debuting in 2001. She also married Ryan Phillippe in 1999. In 2025, at age 49, she’s producing and starring in award-worthy projects, she’s a successful entrepreneur, and she looks absolutely radiant—she has hardly changed.

Victoria Beckham

Spice Girls released its third and final album “Forever” in 2000, and Posh Spice was newly married to David Beckham. Today, at age 51, the mom-of-four runs very successful fashion and beauty brands. In the fall, a highly anticipated Netflix docuseries about her career and personal life is set to debut.

Mandy Moore

In 1999, Mandy Moore’s hit single “Candy” was topping charts on the radio. Here, she’s pictured in 2000 at The Teen Choice Awards, with her bright blonde hair and sun-kissed skin. Now, the 41-year-old singer and actress has multiple big projects in the works, and is a mom of three.

Beyoncé

In 2000, Beyoncé was attending the 9th Annual MTV Movie Awards, pictured below. That year, the music icon was still part of Destiny’s Child, and the hit album “The Writing’s on the Wall” had just dropped the year before. Now, at 43, Beyoncé is receiving awards for her country-inspired album “Cowboy Carter.”

Christina Aguilera

The year 2000 was huge for popstar Christina Aguilera, who is pictured here at the MTV Music Awards. “Genie in a Bottle” was the song we couldn’t stop playing in 1999, and that album catapulted her to stardom. Today, the 44-year-old singer and mom-of-two has multiple Grammy awards to her name and continues to tour.

Jennifer Aniston

The seventh season of Friends premiered in 2000, and Jennifer Aniston was a household name. That was also the year she married Brad Pitt. Today, the actress is 56 and producing and starring in several A-list film and TV projects, including The Morning Show, and has her own beauty brand LolaVie.

Cameron Diaz

Charlie’s Angels hit theaters in the fall of 2000, which was the actress’s next big win after her success with There’s Something About Mary in 1998 and My Best Friend’s Wedding in 1997. She also voiced Princess Fiona in Shrek in 2001. In 2015, Diaz took a break from acting to focus on her family and personal life (she has two kids), but now, at 52, she’s back on the scene with a big Netflix film contract and more in the works.

Faith Hill

The top song on the radio in 2000 was country singer Faith Hill’s “Breathe,” according to Billboard’s Year-End Hot 100. She also toured with her husband, country singer Tim McGraw, for the first time that year (the Soul2Soul Tour). In 2023 (pictured below at age 55), Hill attended the 16th Annual Academy of Country Music Honors in Nashville with her husband and two daughters. Since then, the singer has stayed out of the spotlight.

Sandra Bullock

In 2000, Miss Congeniality hit theaters, and below, Bullock is seen at the premiere. The recent picture of her is from 2022 (age 58) at the UK screening of The Lost City in London. The actress hasn’t been in the public eye much since then, as she announced she was taking a break from acting after her partner passed away in 2023.

Jessica Simpson

In 2000, the Texas-born singer was 20 years old and had several songs on the radio from her “Sweet Kisses” album, which dropped the year prior. She was also dating Nick Lachey (their reality show Newlyweds premiered in 2003). Now, she is 45 years old, a mom of three and has an eponymous clothing line.
