Ocando says that while thin hair types can support the two-in-one cut, it works best on thicker textures. Straight and slightly wavy hair are ideal for a more voluminous style and can bring definition to the hush cut’s layers. If you have naturally curly or coily hair, she adds that the two-in-one cut can still work but will require a bit more effort to style.

In his video, Faulkner notes that undercutting curly hair can have its drawbacks if you want to sport the bob version of the style. Still, it’s not impossible. Curly bobs can be just as chic when styled with the right products. The beauty of this cut is that it embraces texture. “The cut looks best when it has movement and texture helps give it that lived-in, effortless feel,” says Ocando. Whether natural or created with a curling iron, the pros say that lightly tousled waves help bring the hush cut to life as it falls over the shorter bob layer. Styling the bob version of the cut requires a little more effort. “Go for a sleek knotted bun for contrast, which creates a sharp line at the back and makes the shorter bob pop,” says Ocando.
