As a mom of two toddlers who works full-time, I am busy. And even though I feed my kids healthy, well-balanced meals, I don’t always do the same for myself. (If you’re also a mom, I’m sure you can relate.) Nonetheless, parent or not, many of us aren’t getting the recommended daily dose of fruits and vegetables, which our bodies need to thrive. In fact, in 2022, the CDC reported that only 1 in 10 adults meet the daily federal recommendations of 2 to 3 cups of fruit and veggies. Wow! So, in an effort to boost my intake and support my health and wellness, I started taking Juice Plus’s Superfood Powder last year, and it’s been an amazing addition to my routine. Here’s my honest review.
The Benefits of This Superfood Powder
Founded 30 years ago, Juice Plus was created by a man named Jay Martin, who discovered an incredible way of dehydrating fruits and vegetables to maintain their potency, and packaged them in an encapsulated format. Until this powder launched in 2025, you needed to take three of the brand’s capsules—one for fruits, one for berries and one for veggies—to get the full range of nutrients and benefits. Now, this powder contains all three, which allows you to easily take your daily nutrition boost on the go. And, there are no added sugars. As part of the launch, I met with Dr. Mitra Ray, PhD, a Stanford-trained cell biologist who works with Juice Plus to spread education and awareness.
“Juice Plus is the most researched whole food nutritional product on the market today,” Dr. Ray tells me. “As a scientist, I love recommending this Superfood Powder because it’s clinically proven and it helps every system in the body. Instead of taking too much of one thing—many people are overdoing it with supplements these days—you’re getting small amounts of 30 different fruits, vegetables and berries. The synergy of those coming together is a safe way to feed your good bacteria and let the magic happen for your body to heal whatever it can from that nutrition. I can not take isolated supplements because they make me nauseous, but I can take this—or the capsules—on an empty stomach, and that was proof for me that it really was food. In fact, the powder is labeled as a food, not a supplement. It’s essentially a functional food. It improves everything from your skin to cardiovascular health, immune health, gum health and more.”
According to Dr. Ray, results from multiple published clinical studies show that the powder helps maintain healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels and supports flexible arteries. “It also helps maintain a strong immune system and the antioxidants work to neutralize free radicals in the body,” she says. There are also skin benefits: Clinical studies show the Superfood Powder increases skin micro-circulation and boosts skin hydration, density and thickness in middle-aged women. That’s impressive! For me personally, I’ve seen increased energy and fewer headaches, and of course I feel more at ease about my overall health knowing I am getting these vital nutrients.

How to Take It
As Dr. Ray mentioned, the powder is easily absorbed by the body, and like her, it’s never irritated my stomach and I take it every day at a different time based on convenience. It has a fruity flavor and can be mixed with water (or any other liquid) or added to a smoothie. The brand recommends at least 10 ounces of water, and I actually prefer more. I add it to my 24-ounce Owala bottle and it’s still super flavorful. Sometimes I’ve even split up the powder between two standard water bottles to help me drink more water, or if I’m traveling and don’t have my Owala. It comes packaged in individual sticks, so you can easily take it with you anywhere, even when you travel.
One thing to note is that the powder needs a lot of stirring or shaking to fully absorb into the water. Using a spoon in a glass of water isn’t going to cut it. I suggest using one of those handheld frothers or putting it into a closed water bottle and shaking vigorously. No matter which option I use, I usually end up with some residual powder at the bottom of my cup, so I add another splash of water to get that down—I’m definitely not wasting this stuff!
